The
diary
Hot, hot, hot!
In fact, it was so hot,
I could even feel the heat in my dream, and it woke me up.
Oh no! The electric power
is down. I call the power office right away but they tell me there
are hundreds of urgent calls that morning, and the earliest they
can arrive here is around 4:00 this afternoon.
That means I must stay
here and wait, sweating. I can not use my computer. I can not use
the electric rice cooker. The ice in the fridge is melting, and
the only thing I can do is to wait.
I have never realized
how much people would find electricity indispensable in their daily
life. The cleverest people around the world have invented lots of
modern machines to make their lives easy, but this morning it has
backfired on me.
No use complaining. I'd
best just treat today as a holiday. I'm
tired of the cement fore. Instead, I just want to get away and enjoy
a nice and tranquil place right now. Quickly, I make up my mind,
rush out, call a taxi, and drive to the Yu Yuan Garden, a tranquil
wooded area in this busy city, Shanghai.
I look forward to the
fresh air, the fragrance of the flowers and a cup of Chinese Tea.
I'm sure all my dreams will be fulfilled in this beautiful garden.
Closing my eyes, I can expect a perfect day.
If you would
you like to follow in my footsteps please come and share the harmony
and beauty with me.
Yu Yuan Garden, located
in the southern part of Shanghai, is both famous and classic. The
owner of the garden, Pan Yunduan, once a treasurer of Sichuan Province,
had the garden built to please his parents in their old age. Hence
the name of the garden "Yu," which means "pleasing one's parents."
