Today you¡¯ll visit Pearl Market and view the many designs, colors, and textures of pearls from the Orient. Then visit the Temple of Heaven, where the Emperors prayed for good harvests and rain or gave thanks for the harvest.Afternoon you will explore two kinds of Buddhist temples in Beijing. The Lama Temple is the largest and the best preserved Buddhist temple in Beijing. It was originally built in 1694 as the residence of the son of the Qing Emperor, Kangxi. When the son became emperor in 1723, he moved to the Forbidden City and his home was converted into a lamasery, a monastery for Mongolian and Buddhist Monks as it remains today.
