Hi Yin,

Thank you for working so hard to make our China experience a happy one. You did a great job and give a very positive impression of China as a nation and of the Chinese people. You have a wonderful way with people, and serve as a great role model for newer, less experienced guides.

There were multiple highlights of the trip for Dede (Diana) and myself:
1. Getting to see in person so many of the things we studied in our early school years such as the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Shanghai and Beijing (I'm older than you so we studied it as Peking), and being able to hear your history from your view.
2. The entertainment by the National Acrobatic Team in Beijing and the dance/music show in Xian were both impressive.
3. The successful mix of vehicle traffic on Chinese roads. It amazes me that so many different vehicles can use the same road with so few accidents. Our bus drivers, particularly in Beiging, did a great job.
4. The variety and quality of food. Our meals were outstanding and unfortunately I gained 6 pounds (7.2 kilo) so I will be limiting my diet for a few weeks.
5. Friendly people. Almost everyone we encountered was both helpful and courteous.

I look forward to sharing photos on your website in the next few days and weeks. We used a 35mm camera with regular film but will have digital copies made and will email them to you in a few days. I was able to locate many of the sites we visited on satellite images using Google Earth and will be sharing these with our friends and co-workers in my office (like you, I work for the government here).

We will be recommending Regent Tour to all of our friends who are thinking of the orient as a travel destination.

Hi Yin,

It was good to hear from you, and thanks for the best wishes. I know you like these email lyrics, so below is the latest I've received.

Also, I really enjoyed the trip and the new experience in my life. It was very rewarding and not at all what I expected. I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw. I experienced communism in my home country of Hungary and Romania (the country which ended up with our homeland, Transylvania), and there was no comparison between the two; Europe's post communism and China's current status. Romania especially, is still very backward, and suppressing the minority cultures. Our family lived in Transylvania, on the same property for nearly 1000 years. After World War I, 90% of our land was taken away, and after WWII, the rest of our land was expropriated by the Communists. Today only the Romanian can get some of their land back, but Hungarians are having many problems in getting any portion of their land, or even getting any good job. It's a steady up hill climb for the 1.2 million Hungarians that still remain. Our family has been helping to establish business opportunities for local villages, and have created two small orphanages for Hungarian children, so that they can remain within the Hungarian villages and not end up in a Romania state institution. Right now we are caring for 40 orphaned children; 20 at each orphanage. These Hungarian villages in Romania remind me very much of the small villages I saw in China. All are very poor and 50 years or more behind time, as if progress stopped during the 1940s.

So much for that. Best wishes for the holidays to you and yours.

Geza

Dear Yin,

This has been a wonderful vacation. I admire all your patience and dedication. Everyone at Regent did an excellent job! The best part was all the knowledge and cultural history. China is truly a magnificent mystery. Your ability to change the itinerary endlessly was great. All the drivers and guides were top notch. One thousand and one thanks.

I enjoyed all the meals, different cuisines, different settings. The places we visited were very nice.

To Yin,

My favorite part of the tour - the Great Wall, The Terra Cotta Warriors have to be the two things which left me completely full of awe. You are a lovely man and we were very lucky to have you as our guide for the
tour. I wish you the best always.

Karen Respress

Wonderful culture, Chinese hospitality and treat to tourist. Coming to China has been like being like inside of a history book. But the best of all Yin !!!!!

Dear Yin ,

On behalf of myself and my husband Geza, I would like to thank you for being our tour guide on our China trip. You went beyond the call of duty for everyone. Ping ( Xian local guide) and Sunny (Shanghai local guide) were also wonderful, but you are a hard act to follow. Each facet of our travel was important to formulate a complete picture of China where it is coming from where it s an where it is going.
I can only imagine that the 2008 Olympics will be fabulous.

To me the most amazing experience was seeing the unearthed Terra Cotta Warriors.
We feel that we are leaving China with a wealth of experience which will in some way influence our thinking and appreciation for what we have. If we were to come back to China, we would choose a spring or fall as we love nature and we certain that the countryside would be beautiful.

As you have experienced us Amercians, we also love to shop, therefore a day of shopping in Shanghai would have been great. Thank you again to you, Ping and Sunny. Good luck to you all.

This trip was fantastic !
I enjoyed so many things.
What I found the most interesting was the Shanghai Museum. I would have liked more time there.
Yin, you were the greatest shepard. You went out of your way to help us all to have a memorable time.
Thank you so much !

Everything was wonderful. We enjoyed the acrobats, the Terra Cotta Warriors and the Hidden Palace.
Domnick enjoyed the actors and dancers - he tried dancing with toilet paper and it just did not look the same.
Thank you for an enjoyable and memorable time.

Frances and Domnick

Yin,

How does one decide on what was the best thing in China ? I can't ! The Great Wall was impressive for its wandering vastness and the idea of keeping a country protected from its enemies. The Terra Cotta warriors was an egotistical endevour of one man to protec himself after death. The Craftsmanship of each warrior was time consuming and exceptional. Shanghai's ultra modernesssays something of China's look into the future! I love all the gardens, too ! And i'd have to mention you - a great ambassador for your country ! :)

Dear Yin ,

You were a wonderful guide and a thoughtful and caring person. I feel so fortunate to be on this trip with you. I tried 3 times B/4 to visit China but due to riots, SARS scare and other things, never made it. Now I am getting older and it was a challenge but I enjoyed everything. We didi all the places we visited.
I do believe the Great Wall of China was the hi light for me. It was cold + windy + difficult for me. I will be ever grateful for your encouragement + actually walked with me to accomplish my brief walk. I will never forget your kindness + patience.

Thank you for hte pills this morning. I took 4 immediately + feel much improved. So, I will always remember this time to China + most of all I will remember our guides.

God bless you and your family.
May you have a long + successful life.

I LOVE THE SPIRIT AND HUMILITY OF THE CHINESE PEOPLE. THE EXPERIENCE OF THE CULTURE AND TRADITIONS THAT ARE PASSED ON, HEALING AND RELATIONS TO ALL THIGNS, I ADMIRE AND AM FASCINATED.

I GOT CHILLS WHEN WE SAW THE EXCAVATION SITE OF THE TERRA COTTA SOLDIERS. THE ANCIENT BRONZES WERE SO,SOOOOOO EXCITING. THEY BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES. THE GARDEN'S THE ANCIENT GRANDEUR OF THE PALACES, TIAN'ANMEN SQ WHERE HISTORY WAS MADE IN OUR LIFETIME.

WHAT A PREVILLAGE IT HAS BEEN TO HAVE YIN AS OUR WISE AND SENSITIVE GUIDE.
