Suzhou has only a military airport used partly for chartered civil flights. Most passengers will take advantage of the Shanghai airport, which is only 1.5 hours away. Shanghai airport is one of the largest international airport with flights to almost every airport in China and to plenty major airports around the world. Special Suzhou-Shanghai airport Highway, available by the end of year 2000, will make Suzhou closer to the Shanghai airport ( Estimating 1 hour only ).
