Tuan Jie Hu is on its way up as a district for quality dining and evening outing hot spots Chaoyang Park, just up the street. Just down from Tuanjie Hu East Gate is a brand new two storey restaurant positioned to serve Huaiyang Cuisine and Shanghai specialties.

The building is stunning from both the inside and out. Passing in a cab, one would notice that it stands out among the residential buildings – the front showcasing a plethora of greenery and fine wood furniture seen through the massive floor to ceiling windows. Enticing passerby's to take a peak, a step through the giant red door fashioned in Forbidden City style channels guests through to a mystical-cave like atmosphere. Interior design is done by Da Yuan Kong Jian Design, and the owner is former artist and has been converting the office building into this new aesthetically pleasing dining spot since Spring Festival.

The first floor features Imperial style decoration, with hints of cave design. A massive bells hangs in a red partitioning wall, and the back is set with a huge wooden gate. Tables at the front of the restaurant look out onto the street with a rock garden and fountain at one end, and a massive open area filled with 7 foot ferns and greenery at the other.

Upstairs is eerie yet impressive. The semi-spiraling staircase greets a series of Buddha’s set and caged in stone walls. The area is dimly lit and looks as if it is the beginning of a labyrinth, with a series of doors from which to choose. Upon closer inspection, each door leads to a private dining room, all home to different themes. The most impressive is the room featuring Buddha heads, lit to appear blue and glowing. Each wall holds over twenty heads and the room ends with windows and plant overlooking the street.
